Medical and Heath CDS offers Free Medical Test/Medical care on LEBOKU 2015 Festival



The Medical and Health CDS Group of Yakurr L.G.A. offered free Tests and Medical care to the public during the grand finale of the just concluded LEBOKU 2015 Festival. The exercise which took place at the Ugep Township Stadium on Thursday 27th of August 2015 attracted spectators from within and outside the state.
Those interested had the privilege of knowing their HIV/AIDS status as well as Blood Pressure rates, as the case may be. Free medical counseling


was offered to participants and all those who required medical care.

Medical CDS group met Health needs of over 100 people in Ekori community

 The NYSC (National Youth Service Corps), Medical Community Development Service Group (CDS) did a medical outreach in Ekori, of yakurr local government Area in Cross River state, where they administered Free Drugs based on diagnosed medical conditions, checked vital signs for free, free consultation and free HIV test. The group was lead by the President, Okoro Anya Chiemeka CR/14B/2476. It was the first medical outreached of its kind ever conducted in the said community. The effort by the group can not be over emphasized as the group out of their hunger to serve their father land did this kind gesture out of their personal contributions. more photos below;

Environmental CDS sensitizes Ugep people to Stay Clean and be Healthy

On the 11th of June 2015, the Environmental and Agro Allied CDS group went for sensitization in Ugep community of Yakurr LGA, Cross River state, making villagers aware of cleanliness and healthy living.

 The group started the road walk from NYSC secretariat, they carried dust bins and placards which reads “clean environment”, Healthy Living” “Use the Bin not the drainage” etc. They were also singing and chanting “ All we are saying, Use your dustbins.

Some villagers rushed out to ask what the CDS group was doing and the CDS group ceased the opportunity to explain to them individually about the importance of cleanliness and proper refuse disposal. They explained to the villagers that dirt and dump sites attracts mosquitoes which causes malaria and even other diseases may be contacted due to filthy living..

Pear Education Trainers (PET) CDS Sensitization on HIV/AIDS



On the 21st of May, 2015, the CDS embarked on a quintessential sensitization exercise at Presbyterian Secondary Grammar School Nko, of yakurr LGA, Cross River state.

The topic of the sensitization was on HIV/AIDS Transmission. Speaking at the event is the CDS president (Kopa Oladimeji Samuel B., who in his introduction highlighted some of the basic reasons of the sensitization, to take a proactive measure such as total abstinence, avoiding the use of sharp object that may have been used by infected persons, knowing your status, stop stigmatization and discrimination. Adding that; In Cross River State, It was recorded that Yakurr L.G.A has the highest population of people living with the disease.

The students were also able answer some questions asked, such as the meaning of HIV/AIDS and other subjective questions like “HIV/AIDS can be cured. True or False?” , “can mosquito transmit the disease?”

Yakurr Local Government Donates a piece Land to the AGRO ALLIED CDS GROUP




The above named group invited one of the staff of the Local Government Council from the environment unit to address the CDS group and to show them the portion of land being approved for them by the Local Government Chairman.

The representative of the environmental director introduced himself Elder, encouraged the group for their effort and asked them to follow him immediately to show them the land.

Coming to where the portion of land is sited, Elder told the group that this is the site apportioned to them for their Project. 

The CDS President having accepted the portion of land, on behalf the group, thanked the director and all the staff of environmental unit of the council. He further asked his members to think of what they can grow on this land, seeing that the rainy season is fast on. The crop was agreed and plans where aligned to that effect.
