Sensitization on The "Effects of Drug Abuse"


In a bid to impact positively on their host community, members of Drug Free and Quality Control CDS Group, Yakurr LGA, Sensitized the students of Community Secondary School, Ugep, Yakurr L.G.A on the “Effect of Drug Abuse” which took place on the 13th of November, 2014.

Speaking during the exercise, The President of the CDS group, Adeniyi Ifeoluwa CR/14A/1215, Spoke extensively on Alcohol as the most commonly abused drug amongst teenagers. Drug abuse is a serious health problem that affects almost every community and family in some way. Each Year, Drug Abuse causes serious illness among the citizenry and Students makes up the majority. Drug abuse places a role in many major social problems, such as violence, accident, increased stress levels, child abuse and even Death.
 On the aspect of depending on substances when faced with problems, the CDS president admonished the students saying “Illicit Drug taking is never an Option to solve any problem”. The effects of drug abuse includes; Crime, Poor Health, Homelessness, Job Insecurity and many more.
Speaking also, other members of the CDS group, Nzute Vivian, Amusan Taiwo and Idris Folashade made references to Indian hemp, Heroine, and Cannabis, as widely being abused by teenagers and therefore, students should desist from such practice.
