Environmental CDS sensitizes Ugep people to Stay Clean and be Healthy

On the 11th of June 2015, the Environmental and Agro Allied CDS group went for sensitization in Ugep community of Yakurr LGA, Cross River state, making villagers aware of cleanliness and healthy living.

 The group started the road walk from NYSC secretariat, they carried dust bins and placards which reads “clean environment”, Healthy Living” “Use the Bin not the drainage” etc. They were also singing and chanting “ All we are saying, Use your dustbins.

Some villagers rushed out to ask what the CDS group was doing and the CDS group ceased the opportunity to explain to them individually about the importance of cleanliness and proper refuse disposal. They explained to the villagers that dirt and dump sites attracts mosquitoes which causes malaria and even other diseases may be contacted due to filthy living..

Pear Education Trainers (PET) CDS Sensitization on HIV/AIDS

On the 21^st of May, 2015, the CDS embarked on a quintessential sensitization exercise at Presbyterian Secondary Grammar School Nko, of yakurr LGA, Cross River state.

The topic of the sensitization was on HIV/AIDS Transmission. Speaking at the event is the CDS president (Kopa Oladimeji Samuel B., who in his introduction highlighted some of the basic reasons of the sensitization, to take a proactive measure such as total abstinence, avoiding the use of sharp object that may have been used by infected persons, knowing your status, stop stigmatization and discrimination. Adding that; In Cross River State, It was recorded that Yakurr L.G.A has the highest population of people living with the disease.

The students were also able answer some questions asked, such as the meaning of HIV/AIDS and other subjective questions like “HIV/AIDS can be cured. True or False?” , “can mosquito transmit the disease?”

Yakurr Local Government Donates a piece Land to the AGRO ALLIED CDS GROUP

The above named group invited one of the staff of the Local Government Council from the environment unit to address the CDS group and to show them the portion of land being approved for them by the Local Government Chairman.

The representative of the environmental director introduced himself Elder, encouraged the group for their effort and asked them to follow him immediately to show them the land.

Coming to where the portion of land is sited, Elder told the group that this is the site apportioned to them for their Project. 

The CDS President having accepted the portion of land, on behalf the group, thanked the director and all the staff of environmental unit of the council. He further asked his members to think of what they can grow on this land, seeing that the rainy season is fast on. The crop was agreed and plans where aligned to that effect.

Anti-corruption CDS Group Sensitization Exercise ( Shun Examination Malpractice )

After an intense meeting and planning, recommended for what would be the first sensitization exercise on “Shun Examination Malpractice” at Elder Ofem Memorial Secondary School, Nko, Yakurr LGA, of Cross River State.

The move was immediately hailed by members of the CDS on the 21^st of May, 2015, as a step towards fighting corruption in the country.

With a word of Prayer and brief introduction by the President of the group (kopa Kayode), Shortly after the President highlighted the purpose of the sensitization exercise stating; “that the Pupils are the Future of Nigeria, and the best way to cub corruption is to fight it from the grass root (Educate the Children), also stating that lots of good values and Morales are no more. We have to tell ourselves to do the right thing because we believe in you (the Pupils) to do the right thing.”

Anti-Corruption CDS Group Sensitization ~ "THE FUTURE ASSASSINS"

The Assembly Hall of the Girls Secondary School, Ugep was agog as the Anti-corruption CDS group on introducing the scope of the group made known to the students the aim of the group, which are to Fight examination malpractice, stop sexual misconduct, teenage pregnancy amongst others a.k.a “Future Assassins”.

Speaking on examination malpractice at the sensitization was Corper Abolaji Kazeem who stated clearly that examination malpractice is an essential part of corruption that eats very deep into the integrity and future of the Nigerian Youths, leaving them with nothing but a damaged foundation the can hold nothing but a dead future.

Corper Kazeem advised the young ladies to build their confidence as they have the power to be genius in their own unique ways.

In the same vein, Corper Stephen Chigozie emphasized on the need for the young ladies to stay away from Pre-Marital sex because adolescent pregnancy as an act that puts at risk the life of both the pregnant girl and her unborn baby.

The group on a final note advised the Girls Students to pay keen attention to sexual education programs and aspire to have a bright Future.  More Photos below;

SENSITIZATION ON “SEX EDUCATION”

The Medical and Health Service CDS group has carried out a sensitization and training programme at All Saint Presbyterian Secondary School, Ugep, Yakurr L.G.A. with the Senior Secondary School Students on November 20, 2014.

The president of the CDS group Dr. Ekene Obasi speaking at the event, said the essence of the Sensitization are to educate teenagers on; Sexually transmitted Infections, the Features of Sexually transmitted Infections and most importantly, How to Prevent sexually transmitted infection. He also purported that the backbone of the training was due to increased spread of HIV virus in Yakurr LGA giving that its statistics have increased over time, superseding Odukpani L.G.A, saying that it is good to tame their minds now that they are young, so that when they grow up, they would engage in Healthy sexual behaviours.

Sensitization on The "Effects of Drug Abuse"

In a bid to impact positively on their host community, members of Drug Free and Quality Control CDS Group, Yakurr LGA, Sensitized the students of Community Secondary School, Ugep, Yakurr L.G.A on the “Effect of Drug Abuse” which took place on the 13^th of November, 2014.

Speaking during the exercise, The President of the CDS group, Adeniyi Ifeoluwa CR/14A/1215, Spoke extensively on Alcohol as the most commonly abused drug amongst teenagers. Drug abuse is a serious health problem that affects almost every community and family in some way. Each Year, Drug Abuse causes serious illness among the citizenry and Students makes up the majority. Drug abuse places a role in many major social problems, such as violence, accident, increased stress levels, child abuse and even Death.
